The Alabama Court Referral Program evolved from its beginnings in 1985 to its' present form. The original program was derived from the DWI Program in Phoenix, Arizona during the 1970's. There are 29 local Court Referral Programs, more than 100 certified Court Referral Officers (CROs) and more than 120 certified Level 1, Level 2, and Youth & Juvenile Instructors. - AOC Accountability Courts Page
The Alabama Administrative Office of Courts was a major supporter of the development of Alabama's electronic traffic citation system (eCite), and continues to support its roll-out to all law enforcement agencies in the state. It is important to realize that eCite is not just a citation forms generator. Once it is entered electronically, the eCite information is transmitted to a server at the Alabama Administrative Office of Courts (AOC), where the data are transferred to the appropriate courts’ case management system. As important as the citations’ proper control and disposition, the database on issued citations is a rich source of information, since the citation data stored at AOC are made available to law enforcement and judicial personnel through LETS queries.
