SADD CONFERENCE, Gadsden, Alabama
March 12th, 2011
The ALSITE Service Project Group “SALTEENS” participated in the Students Against Destructive Decisions, also known as SADD, State Conference in Gadsden, Alabama. The conference was held in the Crosspoint Community Church on Saturday, March 12th, 2011 from 8am-5pm. More than 400 high school students from around Alabama came together to learn about safe driving without distractions and how to make positive choices.
Students had three breakout sessions, which was a great opportunity for us to present our materials and talk to the students face to face.
We had a table set up with the Salteens’ Brochures and with Salteens’ video playing in the background. Larry Jones and Livia Ryan answered all the questions students had. All students expressed a big interest in our Salteens’video and several teachers and parents requested copies.
SADD’s mission is to communicate positive peer pressure; role modeling and environmental strategies which prevent other destructive decisions and set a healthier, safer course for teenagers’ lives.
This was a very successful event and we would like to participate again in future SADD conferences.
