Electric buses rolling out at Univ. of Ala. in summer 2025
Electric buses are on the way to the University of Alabama campus in Tuscaloosa. Officials say this will make UA one of the first schools in the SEC to adopt a ‘zero-emissions’ public transportation system. A total of eight electric buses will be on campus by this summer.
The cost will be $10 million. Most of it will be paid for through a federal grant plus a $2 million pledge from UA. The project will include electric charging stations on campus for the buses. School leaders say this is a big deal in more ways than one.
