The first National Roundabout Week will take place the third week of September (17th – 21st). The purpose of NRW will be to raise awareness about roundabouts and to provide a national platform to share the successes that state, local and tribal transportation agencies have had with them. FHWA will be using their social media platforms during the week to discuss various topics, ranging from the safety of the roundabout to rules of the roads at roundabouts.

Roundabouts can provide lasting benefits and value in many ways. They are often safer, more efficient, less costly and more aesthetically appealing than conventional intersection designs. Most significantly, roundabouts REDUCE the types of crashes where people are seriously hurt or killed by 78-82% when compared to conventional stop-controlled and signalized intersections, per the AASHTO Highway Safety Manual.
