Google rolls out large vehicle routing tool for trucking fleets

Google has officially launched its Large Vehicle Routing (LVR) system, a routing platform built specifically for trucking and bus fleets, now generally available across the U.S. through the company’s Routes API, Route Optimization API, and Navigation SDK.

The move addresses a long-standing gap in commercial routing technology. Most mapping and navigation tools are built around passenger-car logic, leaving fleet managers and drivers to work around low bridges, narrow tunnels, tight turns, and a patchwork of weight and size restrictions largely through manual checks and driver experience
