Microchip Shortage to Affect Ambulance Supply
A global shortage of semiconductors is impacting the production of ambulances in the United States and throughout the world, according to information published this week by the American Ambulance Association (AAA) & The Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) Ground Vehicle Standards. The chassis manufacturers as well as final stage ambulance manufacturers report that the shortage may impact production for several months or longer, though the “situation changes daily.”
EMS organizations currently awaiting new ambulances or looking to purchase ambulances soon should contact manufacturers for details and begin planning for the impact of these delays.
