Recent update by Jesse Norris for 2013-2017 data for all passengers (including the driver):
- For those properly restrained only: about one in 1,000 involved will be killed.
- For those without proper restraints:about one out of 25 will be killed.
Conclusion: if you fail to click your seatbelt you increase your probability of being killed 40 times. The probability of any person being involved in a crash over his/her lifetime is will over 99%, so it WILL happen to you. Take precautions and save your family’s lives.
